April 30, 2018April 26, 2018 / Chloe Vasquez / Leave a comment

Eight wheels roll, roll, roll. Bump and pass, I watch as you make the bend, cheering in anticipation for the next pass. But, my heart pumps and thumps against every hit you take.

Fractured 13

April 25, 2018April 25, 2018 / Chloe Vasquez / Leave a comment

The first day of class, Dr. Templeton tells us to gather into our designated groups. We scoot our desks into a circle facing each other. The Ballroom Dancer

Brown coils of hair waft down a lithe frame boosted by frills and bolts of pink. Her hand extends, waiting for a partner to come forward. I bring the car around slowly to a clearing. An outdoor park with all the amenities, playgrounds, stationary grills, and bathroom … Continue reading Fractured 12

The king sits upon his throne, stoic, watching his subjects and scrutinizing their every move. She says hello to the man and he returns a nod, his eyes never meeting hers.

Fractured 11

April 4, 2018April 1, 2018 / Chloe Vasquez / Leave a comment

We get into my car, my baby. I get in on the driver's side. Jill takes her time. I see her clearing her mascara in the mirror and then takes in my car. After she's in, she whistles at the interior. I start the engine and WKQX blasts into the car. Smashing Pumpkin’s Geek USA … Continue reading Fractured 11

She’s late, arriving half an hour after the queen had. The queen waves to her as she approaches. The queen’s smile forms on her lips and tears well up.
